Honest by design — Reach, Target, Safety
Every recommendation is labeled as one of three categories. Fit-score caps prevent a long-shot from ever looking like a sure thing.
- Safety — clearly admittable (up to 100% fit). Your GPA is at or above the school's average and admit rate is over 50%. Apply with confidence.
- Target — in their range (up to 95% fit). Your profile lines up with the school's typical admit. The applicants they say yes to look like you.
- Reach — a long shot (capped at 70% fit). GPA below average or admit rate under 15%. Apply with a standout extracurricular story — never as your safety net.
If the engine returns a Reach as your "best fit," we automatically swap it with a Target or Safety. If all three picks are reaches, we ask the model to try again with stricter rules.

- Is Fledger really free?
- Yes. There is no premium tier, no upsell, no "sponsored" placement. We pay the AI providers ourselves so the flow stays free for students anywhere in the world.
- Why do I have to upload a transcript?
- Your transcript is the single richest input. Without it we'd be a quiz that asked "what's your GPA?" and trusted whatever you typed. With the document we know your subject mix, your trajectory, your curriculum — and we can give you a recommendation that holds up.
- What if my transcript is in another language or curriculum (IB, A-Levels, CBSE, +2)?
- Fledger's document-understanding engine reads most major curricula natively, including IB, A-Levels, CBSE, ICSE, +2, AP, and US transcripts. Non-English documents work as long as the text is legible.
- What if the recommendation is a Reach?
- It will never be the winner. We auto-swap a Reach winner for the safest alternative. If all three picks come back as Reaches, we ask the model to try again. You'll only ever see a Reach in the alternatives column, clearly labeled.
- Does Fledger work for international students?
- Yes — by design. Toggle "I want to work while studying" on the budget screen and we bias toward countries with student-friendly visas (USA F-1 + OPT, UK Graduate Route, Canada PGWP, Australia TGV, German job-search visa, Ireland Stamp 1G). The match card surfaces the visa allowance for your country.
- What if I'm only in 9th or 10th grade?

- Will my data be used to train the AI?
