About Fledger
Find where you fly.
Fledger is the college-search tool we wished existed when we were eighteen. One transcript in. One real recommendation out. Built for the world, not the leaderboard.
Our mission
The current college-search experience is broken. Eighteen-year-olds are asked to research thousands of universities, weigh dozens of attributes, and trust ranking sites that rank for clicks. Fledger collapses the noise into a single forward-only flow: drop your transcript, answer three short questions, see a school you have a real chance of getting into and a real chance of affording.
We built Fledger for the kid in a tier-2 city in India, the first-gen kid in Iowa, the kid in Lagos who never met a counselor. Anyone with a transcript and a phone should be able to find their match in under a minute, in plain language, without a sales call.
What we promise
- Confidence over hedge. We pick one school and stand behind it instead of giving you a 47-row spreadsheet.
- Honesty over hype. Every match is labeled Reach, Target, or Safety. We refuse to call a Reach your "best fit" — even when the model tries to.
- No login, no spam, no upsell. We don't have a sales team to feed and we don't want yours.
- Transcript stays yours. The raw file is purged after 90 days. Your data is never used to train a model.
- Built for global students. The flow works for US, UK, EU tuition-free programs, Canadian PGWP routes, Australian TGV, Indian/Chinese/African students — anyone.
How Fledger thinks
Behind the simple flow is Fledger's proprietary AI engine doing two distinct jobs:
- Document understanding — reads your transcript image or PDF and extracts structured data: GPA on a 4.0 scale, your strongest subjects, your grade level, the curriculum you're in.
- Match reasoning — turns that profile into a college shortlist. It cross-checks your GPA and rigor against each school's typical admit profile, against your budget, against your geography preference, and against work-study constraints if you flagged that.
Then we run a deterministic safety layer on top. If the engine returns a Reach as your "best fit," we automatically swap it with a Target or Safety from the alternatives. Fit-score caps prevent a Reach from looking like a Target on screen.
Who it's for
- 9th and 10th graders — multi-year build plan instead of an application checklist.
- 11th graders — the canonical Fledger user. Get a shortlist before summer apps season.
- 12th graders — apply-now framing with real deadline windows.
- Undergrads exploring transfer or grad school — the parser detects your level and shifts the prompt accordingly.
- Grad students looking at PhD or post-doc — same flow, different recommendations.
What Fledger is not
- Not a counselor. We don't write your essay or hold your hand through Common App.
- Not a ranking site. We don't tell you Harvard is better than Michigan.
- Not a guarantee. Models can be wrong; verify every number with the school directly.
- Not a paid placement engine. Schools cannot pay to appear in your match.
