How does Fledger match me to a college?

Drop your transcript (PDF, Word, or photo). A proprietary AI model reads it, normalises your GPA to a 4.0 scale, identifies your strongest subjects and trajectory, then matches you against schools globally based on field of study, geography, budget, and optional visa-ease constraints. You get one winner plus two alternatives, each with fit score and stats.

Do I need an account to use Fledger?

No. The whole matcher is free and works without a login. You can optionally save your shortlist with name and email so you can return to it later via a 6-digit email login code.

What happens to my transcript?

We store the uploaded file on the server for 90 days, then it is automatically deleted. We never sell or share your transcript.

Which curricula does Fledger support?

US high school, IB, British A-Levels, CBSE, ICSE, Indian +2, AP, US state boards, and most international curricula. Anything legible in a transcript or report card works.

How we read your transcript

Our document-understanding engine is given strict rules. If the image is blurry, truncated, or in a language it can't reliably read, it labels the result unreadable and we hard-stop the flow with a friendly error. If only part is legible, it says so and we ask for a better scan instead of inventing GPA. We never want to give advice on a guess.

On a clear transcript the engine extracts your grade level, country of school, curriculum type (US, IB, A-Levels, CBSE, ICSE, +2, AP, State Board, Other), GPA on a 4.0 scale, your strongest three to five subjects, your course rigor, and your trajectory — improving, stable, or declining. That bundle becomes the input to the matching engine.

How we generate the match

Every recommended school is categorized as Reach, Target, or Safety based on your GPA versus the school's average and the school's admit rate. A "declining" trajectory worsens the category by half a tier; "improving" softens it.
The winner cannot be a Reach. We swap automatically if the engine returns one. If all three are Reaches, we retry once with a stricter directive demanding at least one Target and one Safety.
Fit-score caps: a Reach can never score above 70%, a Target above 95%, a Safety up to 100%. This prevents a Reach from looking like a Target on screen.
Cost realism: the engine is told to estimate net annual cost after typical aid, not sticker price, and to keep it at or below your stated budget.
Geography: matched faithfully to your selection. Work + study biases the result toward US/UK/Canada/Australia/Germany/Ireland/NZ/Netherlands and surfaces the actual visa allowance for that country on the match card.

Why the checklist arrives a beat after the match

The 5-item application or build-plan checklist is generated lazily by a separate background call that fires the moment your match arrives. By the time you tap "View full details," the checklist is already in memory. The result is a slimmer match call (faster + cheaper) and a checklist tailored specifically to your grade level — a 9th grader sees a multi-year build plan, a 12th grader sees apply-now deadlines.

Caching, so the second user pays nothing

Identical match requests within seven days are served from a database cache and skip the AI engine entirely — your second click of the same field+budget combo returns in under 200ms instead of 10+ seconds. Field tiles are cached for 30 days by your strongest subjects and grade level. Checklists are cached for 30 days by school + field + grade level. Drill-down Q&A answers are cached for 30 days per school.

What we do not do

We do not track you. There are no analytics cookies, no third-party scripts, no fingerprinting.
We do not retain your raw transcript longer than 90 days.
We do not train AI models on your data — and we do not export your records to any other party.
We do not sell college placements. No school can pay to be in your match.
